Think of it as a vivid picture of your ideal state of health, guiding your actions toward that desired outcome.

Be specific in your answers as this will create a personalized vision that motivates you!

1. Reflect on Your Values and Priorities

Start by reflecting on what’s important to you.

The questions below can assist you in getting specific about your values and priorities.

  1. What matters most to you in life?
  2. What are the strongest components of your view of wellness?
  3. Why is your health important to you?
  4. What brings you a sense of fulfillment and purpose?

2. Assess Your Current Health & Wellness

Take stock of the current state of your health and wellness.

Consider these questions:

  1. How do you currently feel in your body?
  2. Who do you spend time with?
  3. What obstacles or challenges do you face when it comes to your health?
  4. How large of a gap is there between your current health and where you want to be?

3. Envision Your Healthiest Self

Wellness visions are unique as each of us has a different picture of health and happiness.

Visualize your ideal state of wellness using the prompts below.

  1. What would it feel like to be at your ideal level of wellness?
  2. When your health is at its peak, what does daily life look like?
  3. What strengths can you lean on?
  4. Who would you rely on for support in improving your health?
  5. What are the most important components of your healthiest self? (physical, mental, spiritual, etc.)
  6. What will your health be like in 6 months to a year?
  7. How will you know when you reach your goal(s)?

4. Craft Your Wellness Vision Statement

Review your answers to the questions above and write a 1-3 sentence statement that reflects your aspirations for better health.

Write your statement in the present tense as if your vision is already a reality.

There is no right or wrong way to create a vision.

Be creative and make it your own!

I move my body daily with confidence, feeling strong and energized throughout the day.

Fueling my body with nourishing foods makes me feel vibrant and healthy.

5. Take Action

Using your wellness vision, identify the actions that need to happen to make your vision come to life.

Consider the wellness vision – I fuel my body with nourishing foods that make me feel vibrant and healthy, what actions need to happen to make this a reality?

Below are examples of SMART goals that support this wellness vision:

  1. I will meal prep on Sundays.
  2. I will eat vegetables 2 times per day most days of the week.
  3. I will limit dining out to 1-2 times per week

SMART goals are specific measurable, attainable, realistic, and time sensitive.

6. Review and Revise

Your wellness vision is not set in stone.

Regularly review and refine it as your priorities and circumstances change.
